Twenty 2 Mile Island

Vodka + Pineapple + Lemon + Jalapeno. No need to muddle the jalapeno, the agitation from a hearty shake is just enough to release the right amount of spice into this balanced cocktail. The sweet pineapple and lemon cool the bit of heat brought over from the pepper. Or to put it another way, there is some intense heat at first, but in the end, it’s not that bad.

Recipe Text:

  • In an empty shaker glass, combine:
  • 2 Slices of Fresh Jalapeno Pepper
  • 2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 2 oz Pineapple Juice
  • Juice squeezed from 1/4 Fresh Lemon
  • Fill with fresh ice, shake hard to mix and chill
  •  Strain into a chilled martini glass
  • Garnish with a lemon twist

Bear Tracker

Inspired by the local raspberry blossom honey I picked up during a stroll through Portland’s Monument Square farmer’s market . Even though some self-proclaimed-cocktail-aficionados automatically shrug off vodka’s utility because of it’s neutrality, they fail to see (or admit to) vodka’s ability to open up other complex ingredients while simultaneously creating a cocktail. The honey is the real star of this cocktail, it’s depth of flavor and intricate nuances open to your palate thanks to some True Micro Distilled Vodka from Maine. Finally, the sweet is balanced by a measure of Blueberry Club Soda while also adding some sparkle.

Recipe Text:

  • In an empty pint glass, combine:
  • 2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1 oz Local Honey
  • Stir well to dissolve the honey in the vodka
  • Pour into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice
  • Top off with Blueberry flavored Club Soda
  • Garnish with 2-3 fresh blueberries

High Power Amaretto Sour

Not your ordinary sour-style-sipper. An extra 1.5 oz of True Micro Distilled Vodka adds a little punch, while opening up the almond flavors of the amaretto. If you have sour mix at the ready, you could probably get by using that. But if you have some fresh citrus available, creating a simple sour mix as you are building your cocktail will ensure maximum flavor. Shaking all ingredients hard with fresh ice will further aerate and accentuate the flavors of the amaretto and fresh citrus.

Recipe Text:

  • In a shaker filled with fresh ice, combine:
  • 1 1/2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1 oz Amaretto
  • Juice from 1/2 a lemon and 1/4 of a lime
  • 1 oz Simple Syrup
  • Shake hard to mix and chill
  • Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice

Red Hot Blues

  • Top off with lemon lime soda (~3 oz)
  • Garnish with a cinnamon stick, give a quick stir before sipping

Rosemary Maple Manhattan

Recipe 128 – Rosemary Maple Manhattan. A classic manhattan cocktail = bourbon+sweet vermouth…simple. Instead of bourbon, this recipe creates your own “brown spirit” on the cocktail level by combining fresh aromatic rosemary with rich deep local maple syrup and some True Micro Distilled vodka from Maine. Opened up and thinned out, then shaken hard to mix and aerate, real quality maple syrup reveals all of it’s complex nuances better than a stack of pancakes could ever deliver….and those nuances are taken to another level all together when paired perfectly with savory rosemary and sweet vermouth.

Recipe Text:

  • In an empty shaker glass:
  • Muddle 3-4 fresh Rosemary Leaves
  • 3 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Grade A Dark Amber Maple Syrup
  • 3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • Add Ice, shake hard to mix, chill, and aerate
  • Strain into rocks glass filled with fresh ice
  • Garnish with a maraschino cherry

Velvet Slipper

Created as the signature cocktail to be served at the wedding of Elizabeth Fien and Brett Bechtel.  1/2 oz of Chambord is only 1 tablespoon. If you eyeball the 1/2 oz pour, you may add too much. Do measure each ingredient for repeatable results that will please time after time. Garnish with a fresh spring of mint, the aroma is just enough of a hint of mint to compliment the raspberry of the Chambord.

  • 1 1/2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Chambord
