Simone’s Secret Romance

Inspired by Simone’s at 59 Franklin Street in Ellsworth, Maine. This recipe has landed itself as one of my 3 all time favorite cocktails. The ingredients call for the pulp and seeds of ½ of a fresh passion fruit (available at most grocery stores year round), which plays so nicely with the pineapple, true micro distilled vodka, and a little grenadine. When you shake, shake hard to break up the pulp around the seeds of the fresh passion fruit and to create a nice foam that will float to the top after pouring. Straining the cocktail will trap all of the seeds, so don’t worry about them. As a final touch, drizzle in ½ oz of grenadine, slowly drawing the patter of a heart in the foam. One sip, and you will fall in love.

Recipe Text:

  • In an empty shaker glass, combine:
  • 2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • The pulp (seeds and all) from 1 passion fruit
  • 2 oz Pineapple Juice
  • Fill shaker with ice and shake hard to break up the fruit pulp and create a nice foam
  • Strain into a chilled martini glass
  • Slowly drizzle 1/2 oz grenadine, drawing a heart pattern in the foam as you pour
  • Garnish with a skewered chunk of Pineapple

A Bloody Taste of Summer

This winter, we’re paying for all of the snow that did not fall last year. Currently in N. Maine, it’s raining, and cold, and I miss being able to go outside without having to run with my head down because some form of cold precipitation is falling from the sky. Guaranteed to help get you through the current bout of weather, this cocktail packs 2 kinds of citrus mixed with true micro distilled vodka. If you live near a Hannaford, check out the juice aisle for their Taste of Inspiration Sparkling Blood Orange soda, it really makes this cocktail bloody awesome!

Recipe Text:

  • In a pint glass filled with fresh ice, combine:
  • 2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 2 oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
  • Top off with (~4 oz) Hannaford’s Taste of Inspirations Sparkling Blood Orange Soda (available in the juice aisle)
  • Garnish with a slice of Blood Orange

Downeast Rickey

Recipe #119 – Downeast Rickey.  Our twist on a classic cocktail, we swapped out the traditional measure of gin for some true micro distilled vodka from Maine.  Combined with freshly squeezed lime juice, real grenadine (made with actual Pomegranates), and fresh sparkling club make for a refreshing cocktail worthy of its “Classic” status.  The depth of flavor of authentic grenadine will really shine if you can get your hands on some, however swapping in the common stuff still makes for a really, really, tasty beverage.

Recipe Text:

  • In a collins glass filled with fresh ice, combine:
  • 1.5 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz REAL Greanadine (use the best you can find)
  • Top with fresh club soda
  • Garnish with a slice of lime

Twenty 2 Baker Street

Created by John Myers of Portland, Maine’s The Grill Room. Inspired by a take on a recipe that was inspired by Sherlock Holmes, John’s creation is amazingly balanced with the fresh basil, elderflower liqueur, and lemon juice. Make your way to The Grill Room and order one up today, or gather up the ingredients and make one at home, either way you will thoroughly enjoy this concoction.

Recipe Text:

  • In an empty pint glass, muddle 3 leaves of fresh basil
  • Fill with ice and combine:
  • 1 1/2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1/2 oz St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur
  • 1/2 Fresh Lemon Juice (~2 wedges)

  • Top with fresh club soda
  • Garnish with a twist of lemon

St. Clementine

Inspired by Dana Moos and Musings of the Foodmadam (http://foodmadam.com/2011/01/27/a-hard-days-work-deserves-some-good-crusty-bread-cheese-and-cocktails/). Her recipe calling for fresh clementine juice, Twenty 2 Vodka, St. Germaine, Chambord, and Cranberry made my mouth water. Our version is a slight twist, and just as delicious. Check out Dana’s foodie perspective as she travels around Maine (along with some very cool photos) here: http://foodmadam.com/about/Thanks Dana!

Recipe Text:

  • In a shaker filled with ice, combine:

The Twenty 2 Key Lime Pie

A slight modification on our Recipe #8 – Lemon Meringue Pie, this recipe uses fresh squeezed lime juice and sweetened condensed milk to create a frothy and delicious bite of pie you can drink. Be sure to chill all ingredients well before mixing, since this recipe calls for a dry shake (without ice). Count to 30 and shake as hard as you can to transform the egg white into a meringue like consistency packed with sweet lime flavor.

Recipe Text:

  • Chill glass and all ingredients well. Rim glass with finely crushed Graham Crackers
  • In an empty shaker, combine:
  • 2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1 oz Lime Juice
  • 1 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 Egg White
  • Dry shake (no ice) hard for at least 30 seconds
  • Pour into chilled and rimmed glass

Twenty 2 Cranberry Couplet

This recipe will yield two servings of a delightfully sweet Valentine’s Day cocktail to share with your sweetheart. Twenty 2 Vodka and cranberry (red this time :) ) are sweetened just right with some grenadine. And since we’re also celebrating President’s Day this weekend, we threw in a cherry at the bottom in honor of that infamous cherry tree legend says Washington chopped down. Happy Valentine’s Day!

Recipe Text:

  • In a shaker half filled with ice, combine:
  • 3 oz Twent2 Vodka
  • 4 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1 oz Grenadine
  • Shake hard to mix ingredients
  • Strain equally into 2 champagne flutes
  • Garnish each with a maraschino cherry

Spice and All Things Nice

Our Spice: ½ oz of Hot Damn spicy cinnamon schnapps. All things nice: True micro distilled vodka from Maine and your favorite champagne. The sweeter your choice (Extra dry, Sec or Demi-Sec) the better the balance with the spicy cinnamon.

  • In a champagne flute, combine:
  • 1 1/2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Hot Damn (Spicy Cinnamon Schnapps)
  • 4 oz Sec or Demi-Sec Champagne
  • Garnish by dropping 2-3 candy cinnamon hearts into the flute

Blue Moose Cooler

Created by request for our friends at The Blue Moose Restaurant on Rt. 1 in Monticello, Maine, this cocktail is quick to whip up and quick to refresh. Packed with citrus flavor from the curacao, OJ, and orange garnish, and a little sparkle topped with some Sprite from the soda fountain.
