Maine Maple Vodka Sour

Who said the classic-sour-cocktail should be limited to the realm of whiskey, brandy, or cordials? Granted, a traditional sour, made with good neutral vodka and plain-old-refined-white-sugar, isn’t going to taste much more than fresh squeezed lemon juice. But substitute that plain-old sugar for one with layers of depth and character like Grade A Dark Amber Maple Syrup, and you have a reinvention of the classic cocktail with a perfect balance of sweet and sour. We like Spring Break Maple for it’s great quality and local presence. Top off with fresh club soda to add some sparkle, and garnish with a chunk of pure maple candy in a sidecar shot glass to nibble on in between sips.

Recipe Text:

  • In a rocks glass filled with ice, combine:
  • 2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice (about 1/2 a lemon)
  • 1/2 oz Grade A Dark Amber Maple Syrup
  • Stir well to dissolve sugar and mix ingredients
  • Top off with club soda
  • Garnish with a chunk of pure maple candy in a shot glass sidecar

Maine Mud Season

While officially arriving tomorrow, the weather here has felt like spring for the past couple weeks. And with Spring in Maine comes mud season. A variation on the “Mud Slide”, this cocktail combines Twenty 2 Vodka, Allen’s and chocolate syrup for an especially tasty way to celebrate the arrival of Spring and the mud that comes with it. Finish by garnishing with an extra drizzle of chocolate syrup for a real treat.

Recipe Text:

  • In a shaker filled with ice, combine:
  • 1 1/2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 1 oz Allen’s Coffee Brandy
  • 2 oz Milk
  • Generous Drizzle of chocolate syrup
  • Shake well to mix
  • Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice
  • Garnish with an extra drizzle of chocolate syrup

New England Iced Tea

This recipe was discovered when looking for a way to finally bring Diet Coke back to the party that is the vodka cocktail. We hit gold when we came across this recipe, and promptly named it the New England Iced Tea. Peach is by far my favorite tea flavor, but don’t add too much. A splash of Peach Schnapps (.5 oz to be exact) is just enough to give it some sweet tea goodness. Serve in a pint glass, garnish with a lemon wedge, sit back and sip.

The Dude’s Caucasian

Inspired by Jeff Bridge’s in The Big Lebowski, and in honor of his academy award win last night we’re celebrating with a special 3:00 Cocktail session. We chose a Maine theme when building our’s, including some good old Allen’s. Substitute your favorite dairy and coffee flavors, but keep the Twenty 2 Vodka. ;-) This is a special edition recipe card, check out all 21 Recipes in our photo albums section. A new recipe is posted every Friday at 3PM. Thanks!

Sparkling Pomegranate Lemonade

Our first recipe that’s Party Approved, we designed this recipe to be easy to prep before hand, and even easier to serve during the party, so you can spend time with the people and not in the kitchen. Look in the juice isle for pomegranate juice cocktail, which is wayyyy more ($) reasonable than the POM juice. Better yet, any juice can be used to enhance the familiar lemonade flavor into a custom treat for your guests. Make each cocktail fresh to order, and top with fresh club soda for some added sparkle. You’ll love the simplicity and taste, it’s sure to be a new party classic!

Recipe Text:

  • Prep: In a 1/2 gallon empty pitcher, combine:
  • 32 oz Pomegranate juice
  • Juice from 2 lemons
  • 1 750ml bottle of Twenty 2 Vodka
  • Stir and chill well
  • Time to Serve:
  • Add 3 oz of the mix into a rocks glass with fresh ice
  • Top off with club soda (or 7up if you like it a little sweeter)
  • Garnish with a sliced lemon wheel

Pacific Island Cooler

In looking for a tasty cocktail that used fresh kiwi in some form, this recipe was one of the first we made, and quickly became a favorite. Fresh kiwi slices are peeled and muddled into a juicy green pulp, then shaken with Twenty 2 Vodka and Midori (Japanese Melon liquor) to produce an “Ecto-Cooler-like” green cocktail. Served on the rocks and topped off with a splash of Sprite or 7up for some sparkle. When you strain, allow the pin-head size Kiwi seeds, an excellent source of Omega 3’s BTW, pass through into the cocktail for a fresh-fruit look.

Recipe Text:

  • In an empty shaker, combine:
  • 2-3 peeled & muddled kiwi slices
  • 1 1/2 oz Twenty 2 vodka
  • 1 1/2oz Midori Melon Liquor
  • Shake hard to mix ingredients
  • Strain into rocks glass over fresh ice
  • Top off with 7 up or Sprite
  • Garnish with a lime wedge

Bitter Sweet Symphony

Don’t fear the name. Perfect for any time of day with its aperitif qualities, this cocktail is poised to compete with the Mimosa or Bloody Mary as your new favorite brunch-time beverage. Bitter and sweet flavors mingle into an overall experience that will remind you of fresh grapefruit. Fresh pineapple juice provides the sweet here. And for the bitter component, just a splash of Aperol or Campari. (If you haven’t experienced Aperol or Campari yet, learn more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aperol , a must for any home bar) Finish it off with a garnish of 3 skewered maraschino cherries.

Recipe Text:

  • In a rocks glass filled with ice, combine:
  • 1 1/2oz Twenty 2 Vodka
  • 3 oz Pineapple Juice
  • Half-Splash (1/4oz) Campari or Aperol
  • Garnish is 3 cherries on a skewer
  • Also, try it with a dash of Orange Bitters (we like Angostura’s Orange)
