A Bloody Taste of Summer

A Bloody Taste of Summer

Recipe #76 – A Bloody Taste of Summer. This winter, we’re paying for all of the snow that did not fall last year. Currently in N. Maine, it’s raining, and cold, and I miss being able to go outside without having to run with my head down because some form of cold precipitation is falling from the sky. Guaranteed to help get you through the current bout of weather, this cocktail packs 2 kinds of citrus mixed with true micro distilled vodka. If you live near a Hannaford, check out the juice aisle for their Taste of Inspiration Sparkling Blood Orange soda, it really makes this cocktail bloody awesome! Recipe: In a pint glass filled with fresh ice, combine: 2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka 2 oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice Top off (about 4 fl oz) with Hannaford’s Taste of Inspirations sparkling blood orange soda (available in the juice aisle) Garnish with a slice of blood...
Simone’s Secret Romance

Simone’s Secret Romance

Recipe #77 – Simone’s Secret Romance. Inspired by Simone’s at 59 Franklin Street in Ellsworth, Maine. This recipe has landed itself as one of my 3 all time favorite cocktails. The ingredients call for the pulp and seeds of ½ of a fresh passion fruit (available at most grocery stores year round), which plays so nicely with the pineapple, true micro distilled vodka, and a little grenadine. When you shake, shake hard to break up the pulp around the seeds of the fresh passion fruit and to create a nice foam that will float to the top after pouring. Straining the cocktail will trap all of the seeds, so don’t worry about them. As a final touch, drizzle in ½ oz of grenadine, slowly drawing the patter of a heart in the foam. One sip, and you will fall in love Recipe: In an empty shaker glass, combine: the pulp (seeds & all) from 1/2 a Passion Fruit 2 oz Twenty 2 Vodka 2 oz Pineapple Juice Fill shaker with fresh ice, shake hard to breakup the fruit pulp and create a strong foam. Strain into a chilled martini glass Slowly drizzle 1/2 oz grenadine, drawing a heart pattern in the foam as you pour Garnish with a skewered chunk of pineapple Inspired by Simone’s at 59 Franklin St, Ellsworth,...

Spiced Pear Mar-Tea-Ni

Recipe # 78 – Spiced Pear Mar-Tea-Ni. Inspired by Tatum Thistle’s recipe submitted as part of Maine Restaurant Week Kick-off cocktail competition. Tatum’s recipe included some pear puree, and pear juice, paired (no pun intended) with some locally sourced spiced tea. The flavors were phenomenal and we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to broadcast her creative creation to our fans! Check out Tatum and her version at The Salt Exchange in Portland’s Old Port, or use this slightly modified recipe to land the flavors in your kitchen at home. Thanks Tatum!!
